Multiple shooters wanted in Philadelphia bar attack that injured 9

 Authorities in Philadelphia said that at least 40 rounds were fired at a gathering of people who had gathered on a sidewalk outside of a club on Saturday night, causing nine people to be injured, including two who were in critical condition.

The perpetrators of the attack took off in a vehicle after fleeing the mayhem that had ensued in the Kensington neighbourhood of the city, and they were still at large as of Sunday morning.

Deputy Commissioner John Stanford responded, "I think it's a public safety threat," when asked at a news conference whether the gunmen posed a threat to the community. He pointed out the number of injured people as well as the round shells that were littering the pavement outside Jack's Famous Bar.

According to Stanford, the incident took place at approximately 10:45 p.m. while the neighbourhood was active with a larger number of people than normal out enjoying the unseasonably warm November night.

He stated that a number of people were socialising outside the pub on the sidewalk when multiple gunmen entered a black SUV that was sitting in the centre of East Allegheny Avenue near Kensington Avenue and began fire on the gathering without giving them any prior warning.

"At this point in time, it just looks like these individuals may have spotted someone they wanted to shoot at, exited the vehicle, and just began firing," said Stanford, adding that investigators do not yet know who was targeted or a motive for the attack. Stanford stated that the shooting took place despite the fact that there was a substantial police presence already in the vicinity. He stated that officers who were walking a beat heard the gunfire and hurried to help the men and women who were injured as the gunmen ran back to the dark vehicle and left. He also mentioned that a narcotics task team was investigating the incident half a block away from the location where the gunshot took place.
